Numerical Analysis of Magnetic–Fluid–Thermal Multifield Coupling Processes in Electric Fused Magnesia Furnace

The production of fused magnesia is a process in which raw materials are melted and recrystallized the electric-fused furnace (EFMF). Temperature key factor that affects production, but it difficult to be observed monitored due high internal temperature. Thus, working current standard for workers judge whether normal. In order master heat transfer characteristics accurately control processes, three-dimensional mathematical model coupling magnetic–fluid–thermal multifield has been established six-electrode EFMF. also considers thermal decomposition magnesium carbonate furnace. phase change simulated by solidification melting model. results show density Joule concentrated region below electrode. When size increases 12,500 A, molten pool begins connected. average wall temperature at end smelting stage only 317.54 K, conforms reality. this study could provide guidance practical production.
